ELEANORE CALL July 24, 1923-April 24, 2011

On Easter Sunday, long time member of the Carlsbad Historical Society, Eleanore Marie Call died from pancreatic
cancer at her home near Buena Vista Lagoon.
She was born to Harold and Ethel La Flam July 24, 1923 in Minnetonka, Minnesota, the youngest of five daughters.
The family moved to the then small town of Oceanside, California in 1928, the year Camp Pendleton opened.
Eleanore graduated from Oceanside HS where she was a cheerleader and allaround popular student. Soon after her
1941 graduation, the quiet little city became a WW II boomtown, with Camp Pendleton a beehive of wartime activity.
Exciting times. Eleanore met and married a U.S. Navy pilot, Harold Johnston. They had three children together. Later,
Eleanore returned to Oceanside and married for a second time to a high school acquaintance, Clinton Call, now deceased.
